Barkies

$26.00

This little roadside eatery was actually called the “Pup Cafe” and it was located at 12732 West Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles, I vaguely remember seeing it, but there was no posted name, so I made one up for the painting since it long been destroyed. In the early days of the automobile, and the roadside business, there was a need to attract the motorist to stop in for a bite to eat, and this type of architecture became a popular way to attract customers. Sadly these roadside marvels no longer exist.
But, like many car guys who love hot rods and old cars, we fantasize driving back through the portal of time to visit these old places, that have long been apart of our collective history. Here parked in front is a 32 Ford Roadster, and a 1950 Rocket 88 Oldsmobile.
